Bit-Phalanx vs. Bitcrusher - 'Bit x Bit' split compilation
When one electronic music netlabel called Bitcrusher, and
another called Bit-Phalanx find themselves both operating in
London, it's perhaps inevitable that their paths would
eventually cross.
After our silent disco at one of Bit-Phalanx's events we've
gone a step further with this split-release
compilation. Featuring 6 artists from each label it's an
excellent opportunity to check out some new artists and get
some more from the ones you know...
Sonic Deadhorse - Everyone Can Beat a Deadhorse
Sonic Deadhorse's glitchy release covers a few styles,
united in their glitch and perhaps some playful disdain.
We're releasing this along with some other labels too:
Otherman Records,
Sociopath Recordings and
Vaatican Records,
so do check out what they're up to.
Petr Passive - Kein Lust
In what is certainly one of our best releases so far, Petr
Passive (aka Autonon)
excels with his heavily 8bit and vocoder oriented tunes.
Built on harsh, energetic beats, Petr moves effortlessly
between electro, techno, breakbeat, chiptune and pop. The
tracks are well crafted, catchy and nasty, this one's been
at the top our playlists for a while!

Grave Glitcher - Motion
Grave Glitcher's debut bitcrusher release has loads of bass
and catchy, playful melodies. It's got a definite 8bit feel
but with lots of rich, liquid synths. There's some
303-tastic acid in there too.
usedtobecool - Obey your thumbs
We've taken a little detour with this one and put together a
chipstep release. It's got some tasty virus basslines and
8bit melodies with a much-slower-than-200bpm vibe.
I can't believe
I used to like those guys all over again...
Zona mc - Caosmo
Breakcore meets Italian hip-hop and philosophy in this
high-energy release...
Zona mc has collaborated with 7 different producers, so
there's a wide range of styles present.
This is being jointly released with a few other labels as
well:
Trovarobato,
SuonoFantasma,
Rxstnz,
Nuke Satori
Forest King - SUPER KIPAWA CHRISTMAS

BeK + WhiteRatBeat - Mask of the Shame
Introducing BeK and WhiteRatBeat, two producers from France
who have teamed up to create their debut release on Bitcrusher:
Mask of Shame. This quality release is heavily
influenced by breakcore and IDM, with a hint metal and
smatterings of chiptune. Guaranteed not to disappoint...
CCDM - Fletz
Bitcrusher has joined forces with Sociopath Recordings for a
joint release of the new CCDM album 'Fletz'. Buckle
yourself in for some nasty beats at breakneck speed.
Check out the
Sociopath
website for an extensive catalogue of quality free
breakcore releases.
Maestro delle Metope - Sono una Teiera tonda tonda / il mio Beccuccio è a forma d'Onda
Alberto was born in northern Italy from the atomic cloud, in
1985. Living in a quiet, still town, the only natural choice
seemed to grow a passion for noise and rabid, frequent
shifts. What he does under the name of Maestro delle Metope
is just the most electronic shape of this obsession.
Clusterfrog - 8-bit Quackstep
Clusterfrog is a side project of producer Daniel Hickman.
This alias was created to release some comedy 8-bit dubstep.
More serious releases may follow but then again they may
not.
Sphyramid - EP1
Sphyramid has been producing in the northwest of USA for 4
years now, but this is his first bitcrusher release.
Check out his signature blend of glitchy dubs and
breaks, mostly produced on his wide range of hardware.
Twocubed - Bass for nerds
Do nerds need bass? Yes, yes they do.
Composed during a summer vacation in Berlin, this debut
release from Twocubed fills that need with 8bit synths and
dubstep rhythms.
Autonon - Who made me make dub
Another awesome release from Autonon, bass-heavy dub
sounds following on from his Who made me make dub
and Dubtones tracks.

for your listening pleasure.

Autonon - Homesick
A great debut release from Autonon, touching on lots of
different styles: chiptune, breakcore... some 8bit
dubstep... All with an interesting take.
The diversity probably reflects Autonon's
musical past, which includes classical piano,
punk-rock, metal and singer/songwriter.
This album has been on repeat for me for the past
couple of weeks, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
Phonemonkey - Open your ears; 9r"5j5&?OWTY Z0d... (sampler)
Here at bitcrusher we love the Phonemonkey album so much that we want to
make sure that everyone gets a chance to hear it - so we're releasing a
4 track sampler of some of our favourite tracks.
If you like it you can download the full album for a mere £1!
Phonemonkey - Open your ears; 9r"5j5&?OWTY Z0d...
What would you get if a Phonemonkey typed at a drum machine for
an infinite amount of time? The laws of logic dictate that at some
point it would produce a barrage of frenetic broken beats, undulating
basslines, agitated synths and, very occasionally, a smattering of a
pop sensibility. To test this theory a group of scientists took an
actual Phonemonkey and put him in a Petri dish with assorted musical
devices. The result was a unique strain of weirdcore: equal parts
melody and madness, rhythm and randomness. Open your ears.
Iacchus - Subjectivity
Subjectivity is the debut album from London based producer Iacchus.
Expect psychedellic breakbeat rhythms with a blend of electronic synthesis
and real instruments. The album concept was inspired by consciousness
and perception of reality. Close your eyes and be still, and you'll
be shown eternity itself
usedtobecool - Only insert if you get a definite yes
The latest installment from usedtobecool sees them return to their roots:
breakcore, jungle, basslines and distortion:
usedtobecool - I can't believe I used to like those guys
The second album from usedtobecool, inspired by a mispent youth playing computer games.
A nostalgic journey through a world of playful melodies, warped beats and 8bit sounds.
